Q| What is the feedback you received from the art communities and the public about the recently concluded Colombo Art Biennale?
A| The feedback I have had has been mostly encouraging and can be separated into two; local and international:-
Local: Generally impressed with the quality of the works from both Sri Lankan and International artists. There were definitely some favourites as far as the visual artworks are concerned as well as interest in new mediums such as sound installations. The Live Art component to this edition’s programme was extremely popular and very well received as it brought contemporary art alive, redefined what art is and provided a successful interactive element to the exhibition programme. The local visitors were impressed that Sri Lanka was able to produce something as sophisticated as this.
There was some criticism that CAB showed some of the same artists as in previous editions and were hoping for new blood. However those same people also mentioned how much they enjoyed the new…
