‘A Different Road’ at the Lionel Wendt Gallery | 24th & 25th of November 2012 | 10am – 6.30pm

Following his recent solo show in Jaffna at the University of Fine Arts, Pradeep is back in Colombo doing a solo show with Hempel Galleries at the Lionel Wendt.

Featuring brand new works, this exhibition is a skillful embodiment of the frenetic energy of impressions of living in Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

Thalawatta recently completed an impressive giant installation as part of a residency in Bangalore entitled ‘Inner Circle’. Prior to this, his participation as part of the 2012 Colombo Art Biennale ‘Becoming’ was received with extreme interest and enthusiasm.

Commenting on CAB, C.R. Constantine says: “Most of the art works by Sri Lankan artists were very impressive. Notably Pradeep Thalawattas’ Jaffna experience brought some of the important and striking features of Jaffna”.

Pradeep Thalawatta, born in 1979 grew up in Ratnapura with his first art education at the Vibhavi Academy of Fine Arts. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, Pakistan where he received a BFA degree in 2007. At present he is an assistant Lecturer in Art & Design University of Jaffna Sri Lanka and a member of the renowned Theertha Artist Collective, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
